The science behind the shelf

Stock with confidence. Sell with answers.

FÜM is the only flavored-air brand backed by three independent studies — effectiveness, toxicology, and exposure. Your customers ask "is it safe?" and "does it actually work?" This page gives you — and them — the real answers.

2.1x

More effective

Third-party consumer survey — FÜM flavored air was 2.1× more effective than other alternative-habit products at helping users stop bad habits.

0

Toxic risks identified

Independent toxicology study of FÜM Cores passed all toxicological guidelines. No risks of toxins shown in trials.

44%

Of safe daily exposure

Independent exposure testing showed FÜM use falls at 44% of recommended safe daily exposure per national-agency monographs.

The research program

Three independent studies. One full picture.

FÜM commissioned three separate third-party studies — not marketing — to validate effectiveness, safety, and exposure. Here's what each one found.

Completed

01   Consumer survey

"Flavored air was shown to be twice as effective at helping stop bad habits."

  • Methodology: Randomized survey of 18–60 yr-old habit users in the USA, past 30 days
  • Finding: FÜM was 2.1× more effective vs. other alt-habit products in the category
  • Third party: Independent consumer-research firm
Completed

02   Toxicology study

"FÜM Cores safely pass toxicological guidelines."

  • Methodology: Third-party toxicology lab testing of FÜM Cores
  • Finding: No risks of toxins shown across trials
  • Standard: Matched against accepted toxicology thresholds
Completed

03   Exposure study

"FÜM's exposure sits comfortably under safe daily usage."

  • Methodology: Third-party exposure-level testing, benchmarked to national agency monographs
  • Finding: FÜM use measured at 44% of recommended safe daily exposure
  • Reference: National-agency safe-exposure guidelines (public documents)

The mechanism

Three things that make habits sticky — and how FÜM addresses all three.

This is the talk-track your staff can use when customers ask "how does this actually work?"

Fixation

The hand-to-mouth ritual

Habits encode physical rituals, not just substances. FÜM replaces the hand-to-mouth motion directly — a secondary reinforcer backed by published research.

Fidgeting

Nervous-tension release

Habits give the hands something to do. FÜM's draw-activated device gives the same tactile satisfaction without combustion, vapor, or nicotine.

Flavor

Sensory distraction

The flavor hit is what your brain actually registers as "something happened." Black pepper, angelica, and our botanical blend distract the craving loop.

Aligned with peer-reviewed research

Three published studies back the mechanism.

Aromatherapy on habit craving

Cordell & Buckle, Nov 2013

"Both black pepper and angelica reduced the level of craving and allowed longer delay before next use… aromatherapy may be useful in withdrawal."

Sensorimotor replacement of bad habits

Przulj, McRobbie & Hajek, Jan 2012

"Sensorimotor replacement may enhance the efficacy of replacement therapy." Non-nicotine inhalators, de-nicotinized sticks, and e-cigarettes all studied.

Inhalation of black pepper vapor

Rose & Behm, Jul 1993

"Reported craving was significantly reduced in the pepper condition. Negative affect and anxiety symptoms were alleviated. Pepper constituents may prove useful in cessation treatment."

Retailer talk-track

What your staff needs when a customer asks.

Is FÜM regulated like a tobacco or vape product?
No. FÜM contains no nicotine, no tobacco, and produces no vapor or smoke. It sits cleanly outside tobacco/vape regulation in every U.S. state and Canadian province. That's part of why it's expanding into retailers that can't (or won't) carry tobacco/vape SKUs.
Is it FDA-approved?
The FDA doesn't "approve" supplements or food-category products — only pharmaceuticals. FÜM is fully FDA-compliant and produced under GMP food-grade manufacturing standards.
What's in it?
Medical-grade polyester fiber infused with a proprietary blend of pure essential oils (black pepper, angelica, and other botanicals) sourced from partner farms. No nicotine, no tobacco, no combustion products.
How long does one Core last?
A single Core lasts 2–3 days of repeated use. A 3-pack lasts 6–9 days. The typical customer runs through 3–4 Core packs a month.
Is there anyone who shouldn't use it?
Users with essential-oil allergies should check the ingredient list. Anyone pregnant, lactating, or on medication should consult their physician. Keep away from children and pets.
Does it actually help people quit?
The third-party survey showed FÜM was 2.1× more effective than other alt-habit products at helping users stop bad habits. It's positioned as a habit-replacement tool — not a pharmaceutical cessation product.
